Green Hours prezintă:
MONK, Our Dear
Bodurov / Acker / Eger (BG/RO/UK)
Dimitar Bodurov – piano
Michael Acker – bass
Anton Eger – drums
Three musicians from three different places of Europe will come together for the first time to celebrate the music of genius composer and pianist Thelonious Monk. Monk’s impact on jazz is tremendous and he is definitely one of the greatest American composers of the 20th century.
Bulgarian jazz pianist and composer Dimitar Bodurov (1979) shaped his authentic musical signature, combining a solid background in jazz improvisation and classical composition with his love for folklore and electronica.
Since 2000, Dimitar has been residing in Amsterdam (NL). He has been actively performing throughout Europe mostly playing solo piano and with his Bodurov trio. Bodurov has received several jazz awards, the most recent of which is a mention at the Martial Solal Jazz Solo Piano Competition in Paris (2010).
Dimitar has released a number of CD and digital albums as a leader, producer and guest for Dutch and Norwegian labels. And in 2012 he founded his own label Optomusic, where he released albums in collaborations with musicians like Theodosii Spassov, Sandip Bhattacharya, Michael Moore and others.
His latest release Solo in Bonn is a live registration of his concert at Beethoven’s haus in November 2018. A lyrical and virtuosic rendition of free improvisations and original compositions based on folklore themes.
Since 2013, Dimitar is the artistic leader of Radar Festival in Varna, Bulgaria
Michael Acker is one of the most inventive and active musicians of the Romanian jazz and nu-soul scene. He discovered the bass at the age of 17, and the sake of funk came almost immediately into complex lines and harmonies, expressed primarily by his extensive work on the country’s well known scenes. His technique has formed and evolved rapidly over the years, and his music has developed in many directions, from swing to r’n’b, and even house or downbeat, being played in the most various formulas, together with native and international musicians . He is known for his impressive technique, characteristic bass lines, and the specific balancing of his own compositions.
For over a decade Anton Eger has made his mark in Europe as one of the most exciting and energetically virtuosic drummers on the scene. Following his captivating live performances and recordings with the likes of Phronesis and Marius Neset, ‘Æ’, his eponymous debut, is highly anticipated and will undoubtedly propell his profile to new heights. Full of high-energy drumming, complexity and unpredictability with ‘Æ’ Anton has pulled out all the stops, drawing on an eclectic genre-defying mix of electronica, hardcore contemporary beats and retro musical guilty pleasures.
